In honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will host a lecture on colorectal cancer screening on March 16 at their Detroit-area office.
Radiologists and gastroenterologists are scheduled to discuss the value and effectiveness of various means of detecting colon cancer, focusing on virtual colonoscopy.
The forum is free and open to the public. Onsite registration will begin at 9 a.m. (EST), with the two-hour program getting underway at 10 a.m. (EST) at 53200 Grand River in New Hudson.
Speakers will include Dr. Beth McFarland, associate professor of radiology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and Dr. Ronald Fogel, a senior staff physician in gastroenterology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
To register, contact Virginia Hosbach at 313-225-0777, or e-mail [email protected]. Information from the forum will be relayed to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's Technology Evaluation Center, which is preparing a report on virtual colonoscopy scheduled for July. Currently, virtual colonoscopy is not covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. AuntMinnie.com staff writersMarch 4, 2004
