(Booth 7130) Toshiba America Medical Systems of Tustin, CA, will showcase workflow and storage enhancements that have been developed to improve functionality for all of the company's Aquilion CT scanners, from four- to 64-slice machines. Also look for the company to discuss progress on the development of its 256-slice platform.
Toshiba's featured workflow and storage enhancements include phaseXact, a component of the company's SureCardio package, which automatically locates the optimal phase of the patient's heartbeat to improve image quality and decrease image reconstruction time by at least 50% while reducing storage requirements.
SureSubtraction was released in June 2007 and is designed to reduce the time required to diagnose a neurovascular CT digital subtraction angiography exam by automating and streamlining bone subtraction. Another technique, SurePlaque, is designed to enhance blood vessel assessment by color coding and delineating calcified lesions versus soft lesions.
Meanwhile, the topic of Toshiba's Aquilion 256-slice scanner is bound to arise. Toshiba this year completed beta testing of the system in Japan and the U.S., and will demonstrate the system as a work-in-progress at the RSNA show, with a product launch planned for some time in 2008. One of the major benefits of the scanner is its ability to capture an entire cardiac image in a single rotation, according to the company.
