MeVis Medical Solutions of Pewaukee, WI, has acquired the CT business of R2 Technology of Santa Clara, CA.
R2 Technology is a subsidiary of women's imaging vendor Hologic of Bedford, MA. MeVis is a wholly owned subsidiary of MeVis Medical Solutions, based in Bremen, Germany.
The acquisition includes R2 products, technology, and intellectual property for computer-aided detection (CAD), advanced visualization, and analysis of multislice CT exams. R2's products include ImageChecker CT software, used to enhance the detection of suspicious lung nodules during review of multislice CT chest exams.
MeVis specializes in disease-oriented software for medical imaging. The addition of the R2 CT CAD products and technology is expected to expand MeVis' portfolio of products for pulmonary imaging and oncology applications.
MeVis plans to transfer R2's CT business to its new Pewaukee facility and distribute the newly acquired products under the brand name of MeVis Visia CT lung system.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
