Philips nets 27-unit US contract, ramps up Brilliance iCT installs

Royal Philips Electronics, the parent company of Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has won an extensive ultrasound contract with a Georgia firm, the company announced.

WellStar Health Systems in Marietta has purchased 26 Philips iU22 systems and one Philips HD11 XE unit for its hospitals and imaging centers. The new units will be placed in five hospitals and three outpatient diagnostic centers in the metro Atlanta area, according to Philips.

In other company news, Philips Healthcare announced it plans to accelerate installations of Brilliance iCT.

Brilliance iCT was launched at the 2007 RSNA meeting in Chicago and is currently installed at five healthcare facilities around the world: MetroHealth Medical Center of Cleveland; Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis; Carmel Medical Center in Haifa, Israel; Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC; and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

Philips expects 10 more installations to be completed by summer. With this new time frame, Philips expects to have 50 units in place by the end of this year.
