Dear AuntMinnie Member,
Vive la différence. Or maybe not. French authorities revealed a different approach to regulating medical radiation last week when they convicted three doctors on manslaughter charges after their patients received radiation overdoses.
As reported on our sister site AuntMinnieEurope.com, a panel of judges in northeastern France ruled that the doctors committed mistakes that resulted in radiation therapy overdoses given to patients treated between 2001 and 2006. At least 12 patients are believed to have died, while others sustained serious injuries.
The doctors received suspended prison sentences and were banned from practicing medicine -- two of them for life. Are the sentences the best way to deal with the radiation problem? Click here to read the article and judge for yourself.
Changes for RSNA 2013
When RSNA added a third building to its technical exhibition in 2008, the move didn't go over so well with many attendees, who found themselves having to trudge even farther to get to appointments with companies in the added hall in the Lakeside Center of McCormick Place.
Things should get easier with RSNA's announcement this week that it's moving back to a two-hall format for the 2013 edition of the show. The move doesn't necessarily mean the conference is shrinking: The remaining buildings, the South and North halls, have enough space together to house all of what was used in the 2012 show, and then some.
