Philips Medical Systems and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston have agreed to agreed to collaborate on research in the development of electrophysiology (EP) catheterization labs. The Andover, MA-based firm will be supplying its flat-panel detector cardiovascular x-ray technology to the institution, while MGH will be enhancing and integrating new imaging technologies with advances in interventional electrophysiology for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and congestive heart failure.
The goal of developing the EP cath lab is to reduce procedure time through advanced imaging capabilities, lower radiation exposure (for both the clinician and patient), and integration and accessibility of data, said Philips said.
