Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, has formed a research and development agreement with cardiac technology developer Biosense Webster of Diamond Bar, CA.
The joint research team will combine real-time electroanatomical mapping data from Biosense Webster's Carto XP EP navigation and ablation system with pre-procedural anatomical cardiac images provided by Siemens' MR and CT technologies. In the future, Siemens said researchers would also deploy its Axiom Artis dFC magnetic navigation system, which will allow direct magnetic steering of catheter and guidewire-based devices along complex paths within the heart and coronary vasculature.
