MRI developer Fonar demonstrated the newest cardiovascular application of its Upright MRI at the RSNA show. The MR angiography system obtains images of the beating heart, as well as the blood and vascular system, with a patient in a vertical position.
Upright MRI enables physicians to see the heart perform against its normal physiological uphill load rather than in the lying-down position, according to Melville, NY-based Fonar.
Fonar also introduced the prototype of an MRI-compatible treadmill for use inside Upright MRI. The device is interchangeable with Fonar's standard Upright MRI positioning system.
