Siemens Healthineers company Varian has entered into a sales and marketing agreement with Embolx for its Sniper Balloon Occlusion Microcatheter.
Under the agreement, Varian will immediately begin selling the image-guided arterial embolization tool in the U.S.
The Sniper Balloon Occlusion Microcatheter has a pressure-directed balloon system for occlusion in the peripheral vasculature. It alters blood flow dynamics and controls local blood pressure to enable the delivery of a range of embolic agents to targeted tumors while protecting healthy tissue, according to the firms.
Furthermore, it is designed to allow embolization to be followed up with ablation and aids in the delivery of combination treatment for liver-directed cancer therapies.
