The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has published a new tracking sheet announcing the acceptance for five formal requests for a National Coverage Determination (NCD) on the use of FDG-PET imaging for brain, cervical, pancreatic, small cell lung, and testicular cancers. The CMS is commissioning a single Technology Assessment to address all five coverage requests. The current tentative due date for completion of the review of the NCD request is September 1, 2003.
The tracking sheet can be reviewed at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/ncdr/trackingsheet.asp?id=92. In other news, beginning today the CMS has moved its Medicare National Coverage Web page to http://www.cms.hhs.gov/coverage/default2.asp.
