Radioisotope imaging developer Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals reported positive developments with the expansion of its single amino acid chelate (SAAC) technology for fluorescent microscopy applications. Collaborative research on SAAC with McMaster University, Syracuse University, and the Cambridge, MA-based vendor was published in today's Journal of the American Chemical Society.
The new SAACQ fluorescence-based technology allows for the visualization of radiopharmaceuticals interacting with cellular structures, according to the company. SAACQ can mimic the structure of a potential imaging pharmaceutical or targeted radiotherapeutic agent at the cellular level, and can also be applied to screen new pharmaceutical candidates such as bioactive peptides and small molecules, Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals said.
