Nuclear medicine vendor Digirad has released OptiCount, a collimator that increases the organ sensitivity of its nuclear cardiology gamma cameras by an average of 15% per detector head while maintaining the same level of reconstructed image spatial resolution, according to the San Diego-based firm.
When the OptiCount collimator is used in conjunction with the company’s latest Solidium solid-state digital detectors, the device improves organ sensitivity by at least 30% over specifications listed for some conventional Anger cameras, Digirad said. Increased organ sensitivity generally correlates to improved image quality.
