NAS revenues slip in Q1

Radiopharmaceutical developer North American Scientific reported first-quarter net sales of $3.4 million, down 35% compared with the $5.1 million in sales posted last year. For the period (end-January 31), the Chatsworth, CA-based vendor had a net loss of $3.9 million, compared with a net loss of $1 million in the first quarter a year ago.

The company attributed the sales decrease primarily to the transition from a third-party distribution relationship to direct sales of its brachytherapy seed products. In other developments, the firm said it plans to delay its acquisition of Nomos until the second calendar quarter, due to additional data required by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
