Radioisotope manufacturer International Isotopes has begun marketing an iodine-131 isotope.
The Idaho Falls, ID-based firm said it completed a supply agreement for the isotope in mid-2003, and has since been installing hot cells, amending licensing, training production staff, and putting a customer order and distributor network in place.
Iodine-131 is currently used for the treatment and diagnosis of various thyroid diseases, and is being evaluated in a host of investigational and clinical trials for breast, lung, prostate, and ovarian cancers, according to the firm.
