Siemens Healthineers has installed its first Biograph Vision Quadra PET/CT scanner in North America at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
The company received clearance for the device from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in March 2021. Biograph Vision Quadra features a wide 106-cm axial field of view, which allows it to perform simultaneous whole-body imaging from the top of the head to the thigh, according to the firm.
Mayo Clinic hopes the scanner will allow it to image very small cancer sites, better calculate the amount of radiopharmaceutical therapy to be delivered to these sites, create whole-body 3D maps of quantitative blood flow rates to organs and tissues, and scan with more than one PET radiotracer during the same exam.
