Philips Medical Systems has commercially launched a new MRI scanning package that enables clinicians to conduct a whole-body scan in about five minutes. The package, for the Andover, MA, vendor’s Intera scanners, employs a moving table, body coil, and turbo STIR acquisition sequence from the vendor’s ScanTools software.
Applications for the package range from breast imaging to vascular studies. Philips said a Swedish radiologist using the package has been able to produce contrast studies in 87 seconds, and has found the technique to be useful for monitoring follow-up treatment of stenosis and plaque, according to Philips.
