The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) has posted a notice on its Web site stating that the organization is "closely monitoring the SARS outbreak in Toronto and its possible impact" on the organization's upcoming annual meeting.
Up until last week, the Berkeley, CA-based ISMRM was saying it would go ahead with the May 10-16 conference. However, a World Health Organization travel advisory regarding Toronto issued today has prompted the society to take another look at its plans, according to a written statement by Richard Ehman, ISMRM president.
The WHO advisory urges travelers to postpone non-essential travel to Toronto and China for at least three weeks, which is twice the maximum incubation period of SARS.
