Chase gets FDA OK for 3-D cardiac MRI software

Cardiac device manufacturer Chase Medical has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) marketing clearance for Simon, the company's cardiac 3-D analysis system.

The product utilizes information obtained from cardiac MRI to generate 3-D images of the left ventricle of the heart. The software captures and displays the entire cardiac cycle in motion and performs calculations to provide detailed diagnostic information. Data can be viewed both visually and in a tabular format, according to the Richardson, TX-based company.

In addition, Simon automatically defines ventricle contours and provides a comprehensive analysis of left ventricle function. It also enables pre and post-operative comparisons and promotes pre-operative planning, Chase said.
