Phillips Medical Systems and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) in Germany said they have developed a computer-aided detection (CAD) system designed to assist in the diagnosis of neurodegenerative disease.
The CAD software automatically interprets PET brain scans of patients suspected of having a neurodegenerative disease that leads to dementia, and combines them with MRI scans for differential diagnosis, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor. The software is about to undergo clinical evaluation at UKE, Philips said.
