Breast MRI procedure volume increased at a double-digit rate in the first half of 2008, according to a new report from market research firm Arlington Medical Resources (AMR).
The total number of patients receiving breast MRI increased 23% in the first half of 2008 compared with the first half of 2007, according to AMR of Malvern, PA. AMR said the boost may be attributed to increased awareness campaigns for early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
In other report findings, approximately 90% of patients receiving a breast MRI study received a contrast agent, according to AMR.
