Siemens gets OK for Oncor Avant-Garde

Siemens Medical Solutions has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its Oncor Avant-Garde linear accelerator. The accelerator is designed to deliver advanced radiation therapy treatments in a streamlined workflow environment, according to Siemens of Malvern, PA.

Oncor features the firm’s OptiFocus MLC full-field high-resolution multileaf collimator, which utilizes a double-focused, fully divergent, low-leakage design, Siemens said. High-resolution portal images, acquired via Siemens’ OptiVue amorphous silicon flat-panel detector, provide patient positioning information and documentation.
