CMS applies for 510(k) for RTP software

Radiation treatment planning firm CMS of St. Louis has applied to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for 510(k) clearance of its CMS Atlas-Based Autosegmentation software.

CMS Atlas-Based Autosegmentation is designed to produce estimates of anatomy boundary contours to create a radiotherapy treatment plan (RTP). The program communicates with radiotherapy planning programs via DICOM-format data.

Atlas-Based Autosegmentation uses deformable registration to match the atlas image to corresponding points in a patient image. The atlas contours are then mapped onto the patient using that deformation.
