Brachytherapy device developer Xoft of Sunnyvale, CA, has appointed a new chief medical officer (CMO), the company reported.
Dr. Mark Carol will focus on the continued development of breast and endometrial applications of the company's Axxent electronic brachytherapy system, as well as exploration of other indications and markets, according to Xoft.
Carol previously served as a consulting medical director for Xoft. He has founded several medical device companies, including Nomos, a stereotactic and holographic-guided surgery technique developer; DxTx, which develops new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of early-stage lung cancer; and Enki, which focuses on developing radiation therapy systems for benign and malignant disease.
