NY center starts Varian radiotherapy

Radiation Oncology Associates of Lake Success, NY, has begun offering RapidArc radiotherapy technology from Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA.

Two patients have begun receiving RapidArc treatments, which are delivered in less than two minutes at the facility.

RapidArc image-guided intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatments capture high-resolution x-ray images of the targeted tumor and surrounding anatomy and then use the images to position the patient for treatment.
