CMS gets 510(k) for segmentation software

Radiation therapy planning firm CMS of St. Louis has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its Atlas-Based Autosegmentation (ABAS) software.

ABAS produces an estimate of the anatomy boundary contours needed to create a radiation treatment plan, shortening the amount of time required to manually create and edit patient contours.

ABAS is a vendor-neutral product that uses DICOM file formats for input and output, according to the company. It is compatible with any radiation treatment planning system that can read standard DICOM RT structure set files, CMS said.
