U.S. ultrasound market levels off in 2002

The U.S ultrasound market grew a slight 0.3% last year, producing a total of $1.14 billion in annual revenues, according to a report released by ultrasound consulting firm Klein Biomedical Consultants of New York City.

The ultrasound division of Siemens Medical Solutions in Mountain View, CA, retained the top spot in the U.S. market for the third year in a row and snared the top spot on the global market as measured in systems and upgrades sold, according to Klein.

Philips Medical Systems of Bothell, WA, dropped to second in the global market and held second in the U.S. market, while GE Medical Systems of Waukesha, WI, retained its third-place ranking in both the U.S. and global markets.
