Electrophysiology device developer EP MedSystems has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its ViewMate intracardiac ultrasound catheter imaging system. The product consists of an ultrasound console with an image monitor, and a navigable catheter fitted with a transducer on its tip.
The system allows cardiologists and electrophysiologists to view the interior anatomy of the heart, permitting them to identify, diagnose, and treat a number of heart abnormalities and conditions, according to the West Berlin, NJ-based firm.
