GE Medical Systems has expanded its echocardiography portfolio with products shown at this week’s annual American Heart Association meeting in Orlando. Vivid 4 is a shared services scanner suitable for cardiac, vascular, pediatrics, surgical monitoring, abdominal, and ob/gyn applications, according to the Waukesha, WI-based vendor.
Vivid 4 includes features such as real-time tissue tracking, high frame rates for 2-D and color imaging, six levels of harmonics, and GE’s SmartStress feature for shortening stress echo testing time. MPEGvue offers enhanced connectivity and remote consultation capabilities, GE said.
In other ultrasound introductions, GE has debuted the next generation of its Vivid 7 cardiac ultrasound scanner. Called Vivid 7 Vantage, the system includes an option for GE’s Tissue Synchronization Imaging (TSI) technology, which provides clinicians with parametric imaging to help manage heart failure patients who are candidates for, or who are undergoing cardiac resynchronization therapy, according to the vendor.
Other new features include TruSpeed Color Flow, which offers increased frame rates for more physiological representation of blood flow, and shared service functionality migrated from GE’s flagship Logiq 9 radiology system. GE quantification tools such as Tissue Velocity Imaging and Strain Imaging have been incorporated.
