Siemens Medical Solutions reported that it would add transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) imaging to its Acuson Cypress cardiovascular system with the Malvern, PA-based company’s V5Ms TEE transducer.
The transesophageal approach to cardiac imaging is increasingly important in echocardiography because it provides a clearer window to the heart, and is valuable for monitoring cardiac function to better manage surgical and critical care patients, Siemens said.
The V5Ms TEE transducer features an extended 120° tip flexion for easier transgastric views, variable speed rotation control of the imaging plane, and one-hand positioning control of the tip. These features permit an echocardiographer the ability to spend more time viewing patient images and less time manipulating the position of the probe, according to the firm.
