(Booth 1002) Terason of Burlington, MA, will use the RSNA spotlight to launch the Impact 2008 architecture, which features a variety of enhancements for its Terason t3000 hand-carried ultrasound system.
Impact 2008 includes new proprietary algorithms, lateral resolution, advanced harmonic imaging (AHI), and OmniVision, an electronic beam-steering mode for rapid acquisition of several scans from different viewing angles to increase confidence in visualization. The technique also is designed to reduce speckle, shadowing, clutter, and other acoustic artifacts, while new grayscale maps offer additional choices in image displays, according to the company.
Impact 2008 is based on a Windows software architecture, and it enables the company to make significant improvements without changing customer system hardware. Performance upgrades can be accomplished by inserting a CD into the laptop for automatic installation.
Terason also plans to showcase B-mode/2D, power Doppler, directional power Doppler, and several other advanced capabilities that are intended for use in interventional radiology procedures. These enhancements have received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance and are currently available throughout the world.
