Samsung Medison has announced a collaboration with Intel for its ultrasound fetal measurement software.

Samsung's BiometryAssist and LaborAssist programs will utilize Intel's Core i3 processor, OpenVino toolkit, and OpenCV library to provide fetal measurements and fetal angle of progression (AoP) measurements during labor. These measurements can help provide optimal prenatal care and prevent stillbirths related to growth restrictions, according to the companies.

BiometryAssist provides physicians with fetal measurements in about 85 milliseconds, according to Samsung. Meanwhile, LaborAssist provides estimates of fetal AoP and head direction, which physicians can use to monitor real-time progression of delivery and determine the best delivery method, Samsung noted.
