Radiologists continue to explore the potential that virtual reality (VR) has to offer in training the next generation of imaging leaders, including for those in ultrasound.
Stefanie Woodard, DO, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), recently presented research showing just that at the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) annual meeting in Pittsburgh. Woodard and colleagues found that VR training has benefits for students learning best practices in ultrasound-guided breast biopsies.
In this episode, Woodard shares results from the study presented at ARRS, how she and colleagues used VR training during an education mission in Indonesia, and future work the team is performing.
Stefanie Woodard, DO, shares her thoughts on how VR education tools for students in ultrasound can be validated for wider adoption.
Woodard also shares her thoughts on implementing VR education tools for imagers of varying experience, considerations for education programs to keep in mind, and validating these tools for wider use.
