Computer-aided detection developer iCAD has made the European launch of CompanionCAD, a CAD system designed to work with full-field digital mammography (FFDM) units. The product reflects the Nashua, NH-based firm’s progress in its joint marketing and development agreement with Fischer Imaging of Denver. Fischer is now marketing CompanionCAD in Europe as an option for its SenoScan TrueView digital mammography system.
The first European installations are expected within the next three months, while a U.S. launch is pending Food and Drug Administration approval of the system. Until receipt of FDA approval, CompanionCAD will be available in the U.S. only as an investigational device, according to iCAD.
