Hologic reported 2004 fiscal first-quarter revenues of $49.9 million, up 2% compared with the $49 million turned in during the same period last year.
For the quarter (end-December 27), the Bedford, MA-based vendor had net income of $1.04 million, compared with a net loss of $1.08 million last year.
The improvement in earnings reflects the company’s continued shift in product sales to its higher-margin Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems, as well as decreasing expenses associated with planned reductions in the general radiography systems business, Hologic said.
In first-quarter highlights, Hologic installed 27 of its Selenia systems and its backlog for the product increased to 74 systems, according to the firm.
