Hologic reported record 2004 fiscal second-quarter revenues of $55.7 million, up 11% compared with the $50.3 million turned in during the same period last year.
For the quarter (end-March 27), the Bedford, MA-based vendor had net income of $2.6 million, compared with net income of $344,000 in the second quarter 2003.
The improvement in earnings reflects the company’s continued shift in product sales to its higher-margin Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems, as well as decreasing expenses associated with planned reductions in its general radiography systems business, Hologic said.
In second-quarter highlights, Hologic installed 35 Selenia systems, and its backlog for the product was 74 systems, according to the firm.
