Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions has received FDA premarket approval for its Mammomat Novation DR full-field digital mammography system. The Malvern, PA, vendor becomes one of a handful of companies with approval to sell an FFDM system on the U.S. market.
Mammomat Novation DR features a 25 x 29-cm (9.8 x 11.4-inch) amorphous selenium flat-panel detector, an acquisition workstation, and a dedicated soft-copy reporting workstation, MammoReportPlus.
Siemens believes the amorphous selenium detector provides higher spatial resolution and greater clinical detail, while the company is also touting the versatility of the 25 x 29 cm detector size. MammoReportPlus will also feature CAD capabilities in the future, the company said.
