The American College of Radiology said it's encouraging facilities participating in National Mammography Day on October 15 to offer free or discounted screening mammograms that day and throughout October, which marks the 20th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM).
The NBCAM Board of Sponsors, of which the ACR is a member, has provided a promotion guide for NBCAM, featuring breast cancer information and statistics, and sample press releases facilities can use to raise awareness. The guide can be downloaded from the NBCAM's Web site. Reston, VA-based ACR and the American Cancer Society are also cosponsoring a national awareness campaign entitled, "What You Need to Know about Mammography."
