Sectra reports slow start to fiscal year

Swedish imaging informatics and digital mammography developer Sectra reported preliminary fiscal 2004 first-quarter sales of 79.4 million Swedish kronor ($10.5 million, U.S.), a drop from the 96 million kronor ($12.7 million) posted for the same period last year.

For the quarter (end-July 31) the Linköping-based vendor said it had a profit before taxes of 3.3 million kronor ($437,000), compared 12.2 million kronor ($1.6 million) in the first quarter of fiscal 2003.

The firm said it had a weak start to the fiscal year, with earnings that were affected by increased costs resulting from its large investments in the mammography market.
