Women's imaging firm Hologic and computer-aided detection (CAD) developer iCAD have inked a development agreement to produce and market film-based CAD systems.
Under terms of the agreement, Nashua, NH-based iCAD will manufacture film-based CAD systems for Bedford, MA-based Hologic. The systems will be targeted to serve lower case-volume mammography clinics. The companies estimate that these clinics comprise over half the potential market for breast cancer analog CAD products.
The companies have already collaborated on the development of CAD software for use with Hologic's Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system. iCAD software for the FFDM system received FDA clearance earlier this year.
