Dexela teams with IMS on breast tomosynthesis

Breast imaging developer Dexela of London announced a five-year collaboration and licensing agreement with Italian mammography firm Internazionale Medico Scientifica (IMS) of Bologna to develop and market a new optimized breast tomosynthesis system.

Under the terms of the agreement, Dexela will provide intellectual property, expertise, and software for a system intended for use with breast tomosynthesis, full-field digital mammography (FFDM), and biopsy.

The new product will offer iterative reconstructive software and Dexela's patented nonuniform 3D tomosynthesis geometry, designed to produce optimized image quality at a reduced radiation dose to the patient.
