Siemens Healthineers has installed the first Mammomat B.brilliant mammography system in the U.S. at an imaging center in Iowa run by Grace Breast Imaging & Medical Spa.
Mammomat B.brilliant is the first completely redesigned mammography system by Siemens in over a decade, the company noted. The system introduces new technology that enables wide-angle tomosynthesis acquisitions in under five seconds and a detector and new x-ray tube that uses flying focal-spot technology adapted from the company’s CT scanners to visualize microcalcifications more clearly.
In addition, new image reconstruction technology reduces metal artifacts and offers customizable image settings. The system also provides a synthetic 2D image with no additional radiation exposure to the patient and improves patient comfort, enhances user workflow, and improves user ergonomics, Siemens said.
Grace Breast Imaging & Medical Spa has locations in Urbandale and Clive and is the only imaging center in Iowa designed, owned, and operated by women, according to the center’s website.
