Dear AuntMinnie Member,
Whew, what a week! The Spring conference season was in full swing, with meetings underway on both coasts: the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) show in San Diego, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Orlando. AuntMinnie.com had editors at both events, filing articles and videos.
At HIMSS 2022, much of the discussion circulated around cybersecurity issues like phishing attacks and ransomware. Other important topics included the following:
- How medical imaging is leading the way in healthcare information technology
- A discussion of the ongoing collaboration between HIMSS and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) on enterprise imaging
- How smaller healthcare providers are becoming an increasingly important market for enterprise imaging vendors
- The development of healthcare IT in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East
- Medical imaging's growing shift to storing data in the cloud

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, attendees at AIUM 2022 learned about the latest developments in ultrasound, including:
- 5 rules for diagnosing problems found on fetal ultrasound scans
- Whether the changes that occurred to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic will persist
- How collaboration and innovation are needed for more equitable healthcare
- How bedside imaging can restore the human connection that radiology has lost with digital imaging
- The use of contrast ultrasound for pediatric patients
