Appearing at its first RSNA meeting, Neurognostics of Milwaukee will unveil a suite of products targeted at the emerging market for functional MRI (fMRI) studies.
The company's primary product is built on a database of fMRI studies that maps how different areas of the brain are affected by various disorders of the central nervous system. Neurognostics is assembling a set of what it calls biomarkers -- specific tasks performed by subjects, and the hemodynamic responses as measured by fMRI that the tasks elicit -- that it believes can act as a sort of road map for clinicians to help them interpret their own fMRI scans.
Neurognostics has also developed a package of hardware devices designed to help imaging sites conduct fMRI studies. The package includes equipment like MRI-compatible video projectors, virtual-reality goggles, and patient-response buttons, which are needed for doing stimulus-response exams inside an MRI scanner.
