Ziosoft forms partnership with Olympus

Advanced visualization software developer Ziosoft has formed a strategic partnership with medical technology firm Olympus.

Under the deal, Olympus will be utilizing the firm’s Revoras image analysis platform as an AI-powered clinical decision tool for preoperative surgical planning. The platform will be launched by Olympus in parallel to its Intelligent Endoscopy Ecosystem, according to the companies.

Olympus will initially launch the software for three applications: thoracic surgery, liver surgery, and urologic surgery. In thoracic surgery, the software can convert 2D CT/MRI images into 3D models, which will help in planning of lung cancer and thoracic procedures, as well as reducing invasive approaches, the vendors said.

The platform can also help general and hepatobiliary surgeons visualize liver anatomy, practice ahead and plan for liver-sparing surgeries. For urologic surgery applications, the software can assist in minimally invasive nephrectomies by accurately assessing the size, location, and shape of tumors, cysts, or other abnormalities, according to the firms.

Olympus is highlighting the Revoras platform at this week’s annual meeting of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) in Long Beach, CA.
