Olympus launches slim EBUS bronchoscope in U.S.

Olympus is rolling out the BF-UCP190F, a slim endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscope designed to reach beyond the mediastinal lymph nodes to segmental and subsegmental airways, in the U.S.

The bronchoscope has an outer diameter of 5.9 mm at the distal end and is used for EBUS transbronchial needle aspiration, in which real-time ultrasound imaging guides needle sampling of lymph nodes or lesions. It features 170° upward angulation, a 14° forward oblique view angle, and a shorter distal end intended to facilitate access to challenging locations in the lung.

The BF-UCP190F is compatible with the ViziShot 2 25-gauge EBUS needle and integrates with the firm’s EVIS X1 endoscopy system and EU-ME3 ultrasound processor, Olympus said.
