Siemens Healthineers has ended sales of its general imaging ultrasound systems to focus solely on procedural imaging and image-guided therapy

As of October 12, the company no longer offers its Acuson Sequoia, Redwood, Juniper, and Maple systems. Its ultrasound portfolio now consists of procedural systems (Acuson Origin, P500 intracardiac echocardiography system [ICE], and Freestyle), sold with dedicated software and catheters mainly to electrophysiologists and interventional cardiologists.

"By concentrating our ultrasound portfolio on procedural imaging, we can apply our strengths in advanced cardiovascular imaging, ICE, software, AI, and partnerships with cardiovascular device companies to address important clinical needs and create long-term value for physicians, patients, and Siemens Healthineers,” said Sourabh Pagaria, the company's head of ultrasound, in a statement.

The company will continue to provide service and support for all existing customers in its installed base, honoring all contractual and regulatory obligations and providing full lifecycle support, including maintenance, software updates, and transducer availability.
