GE Medical Systems has signed an agreement with CADx Systems to distribute the Beavercreek, OH-based vendor's new Second Look Digital and Second Look AD computer-aided detection (CAD) systems. Second Look Digital is a dedicated digital CAD system designed specifically for the Waukesha, WI-based vendor's Senographe 2000D full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system, according to the vendors.
The work-in-progress Second Look AD has both analog and digital capabilities, allowing users to run both film-based and digital mammography images simultaneously through the same CAD system, the companies said.
In other GE FFDM news, the firm has debuted Premium View, a breast algorithm for Senographe 2000D. Premium View optimizes image contrast and automatically displays more detailed information for assessment of breast cancer, GE said.
Available as an option on GE's review workstation, Premium View optimizes the contrast in breast images in one image window, which reduces the need for windowing and additional steps in image viewing, according to the vendor. GE said that Premium View improves breast visualization in dense regions while maintaining peripheral contrast at the skin line and chest wall.
