GE acquires surgical navigation technology

Multimodality vendor GE Healthcare has acquired technology from surgical visualization and navigation developer Cbyon.

Although terms of the agreement were not disclosed, Waukesha, WI-based GE said it had acquired specialized surgical navigation technology and intellectual property for spine, ear, nose and throat, and neurosurgery from Mountain View, CA-based Cbyon, as well as exclusive intellectual property licensing rights from Stanford University in Stanford, CA.
