AIRS Medical has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its SwiftSight Body Composition AI-based MRI software for quantifying muscle and fat.
SwiftSight Body Composition measures visceral and subcutaneous fat, abdominal and thigh muscle, including muscle quality and bilateral balance, and liver fat using proton density fat fraction. The software benchmarks its measurements against age- and sex-matched reference populations and puts them into a report with percentile rankings and visual summaries, AIRS Medical said. The firm is aiming the software at whole-body and preventive imaging, weight-management, and wellness programs, as well as repeat assessments over time.
SimonMed Imaging will be its first customer, AIRS Medical noted.
