Misys Healthcare Systems of Raleigh, NC, and Chicago-based Allscripts have completed their merger to become Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions (AllscriptsMisys).
The new entity combines the companies' electronic health record and practice management technologies and products, with the new firm managing an existing client base that includes more than 700 U.S. hospitals and nearly 7,000 postacute and home care organizations.
One of the first orders of business at AllscriptsMisys was a restructuring. According to North Carolina's The News & Observer, the new company has let go 44 employees and has begun to relocate several hundred workers in four offices into its facility in Raleigh.
The newspaper cites AllscriptsMisys CEO Glen Tullman as saying the layoffs were necessary because the positions were redundant under the new organization, and were not done for financial reasons. He also is quoted as saying that the company is looking to fill more than 100 open positions in software sales and product installation, primarily in the Raleigh area.
